Hey everyone.
I just wanted to find out if there's a standard, or to get people's thoughts on component designators when it comes to PCB design.
I understand that values shouldn'y be printed on a silk screen just in case component values need to change.
Here's what I have;
B for siren, buzzer, speaker
C for Caps
D for Diodes, LED's
H for heatsink
IC for Intergated circuits, voltage regulators, microcontrollers, logic IC's and mosfet drivers etc..
J for connector, Jumper and Header pins
L for inductor
R for Resistors, resistor networks, and Variable Resistors
S for switch, push button,
T for Transistors, MOSFETs, JFET's
TP for test point
X for Cystal
So i'm only guessing, please correct/suggest any mistakes/changes
I will update the list as I get feedback.
