Hello there,

Can anybody tell me how do i start to be a freelancer online.
where do i start.
I obviously want to start on small projects and then go to complex projects.
My motto of work is to increase my knoledge and not money.
My area of Domain is C,C++ programming of embedded system & analog electronics.

any advice will be appreciated

Thankyou.

Find a local PCB assembly / fabrication house...... Many of these places have tons of inquiries about design and development.... Most do not have in-house development, but may, in some cases, use freelance embedded designers. They ask you to develop for their client and pay you for your time. Last project I did was for 10 hours (easy peasy job) and I charged £2000... Its good money.. but it has to work.

:-o 2000£ :-o ! LoooL

The hard part is getting your first reputable client. Then you gain more clients by word of mouth. Develop a reputation. Without the first client, getting off the ground is very hard. Perhaps having a useful product to offer on your online site would help get your name out.

For awhile I worked as a freelance test engineer, ie. Designed board testers for small outfits lacking a budget for a full time test engineer. It worked out okay, but I did not have the ambition to seek out new clients.

Getting clients takes a lot of work.

hi,

i also want to join to freelancer, but i don't have enough time to do the programming before the scheduled date. so that i stop it and look for another online business.

I'm currently earning money online, i would like to share to you how I'm earning,
i have here:
adfly,
imagetwist, and
PTC00

adfly is a site that shirks your links, and every time somebody clicks that link, you will earn money.
1.) register to adfly,
2.) shrink your link,
3.) paste it anywhere.

imagetwist is like a image hosting, you can save image there, additionally, you will earn money if somebody view the image.
1.) register to imagetwist,
2.) upload your image
3.) get the link and paste it everwhere
4.) or shrink your imagetwist link to adfly

PTC00 is a paid to click site, you will earn money everytime you click an advertisement on there site.
1.) register to PTC00,
2.) go to Earning Area
3.) Start earning money by viewing the ads.

i hope this will help you neptune..

Leave it there only it is something informative which can be used by my friends

Hi neptune,

in order to become a successful freelancer you need to discover a niche in the market and you'll have to be specialised for that.

When I started my electronic shop(s) they could hardly feed a familiy.

So I looked for something putting in my work and found it inadvertantly being told by a friend of mine.

He worked for a company building variable pitch propeller fans for air movement in big buildings like government offices, hospitals and industrial plants.

The entire setup was at fault right from planning in many cases and the company had to take a lot of enquires - not resulting from the quality and performance of the fans and the connected controller, but mainly from faulty aerodynamic planning.

I got my first "test job" correcting for the the false setup at a large BMW-sales office (five stories high) where employees suffered from exhausted air without sufficient fresh (and filtered) air for replenishment.

I measured all air outlets in individual rooms and came to the conclusion that they just got a spoonful of fresh air within a given time.

Checking the fans everything was OK, but not so in the air ducts and channels.

I suggested several modifications and had them built in according to my advice. Within three days everyone had fresh (and heated) air in every room.

From that day on my reputation was already good enough to be called to construction sites all over Europe and correct for planning errors.

I didn't care when construction company employees tried to make jokes about me, like saying: "Here comes Zons electronics - the entire company". (I also did customized circuits to interface the control computer into BMS (building management system)).

When I finally got out of business after 18 years of traveling (very tiring to make between 80,000 and 100,000 km per year) on roads and autobahns, I really felt satisfied with what I had achieved.

Many companies didn't care for the money they spent for me. They just wanted me to appear quickly to save further cost of e.g. 16 engine test booths standing still because of air movement problems each costing 15,000EURO per day without working.

Sit down and give my story a little thought.

If you can't be the greatest in your job you better forget about it!

Regards

Boncuk
