I'm doing a project involving PIC16F870, in which i need to monitor
the level of level of the battery and display it on the LCD screen
(ex. 70% full,..etc). This PIC has built-in A/D converter with Vref+
and Vref- but i have no idea on how to use them!!

Check my tutorials which show how to use the analogue inputs, however it's up to you to decide how voltage readings translate into battery life - I would advise writing a PIC program to plot the voltage against time while you use the device, then decide how to interpret voltage against expected life.

What battery type? Some batteries like NiMH are pretty difficult to read the state of simply by voltage.
