PS1
I can now supply Mod Chips for this console at very
competitive prices (this works on all Play station types) is a 3/4
wire chip (3 wires for the PS One) which is easy to install. The 7
wire stealth coded chips (V4.01 & V2.02 code), are a waste of
time for the PS One.
Note: The standard chips currently available
will not boot imported games.
This is due to the country code protection being changed on the
Bios of the Playstation. The bios chip in the PS One can be replaced
with a bios chip from an older series Playstation to get around this
problem, however, this is extremely difficult and not recommended.
To get around this problem it is possble to use a boot disk to load
imports (download
here), it can also get around some Anti Mod protection games as
well.
Remove all screws then lift off the lid,
Carefully disconnect parts making sure not to touch the
lens:
Solder the Mod chip to the points shown below,
cut off the green wire (pin 5), and link the points as shown:
There is now a new Version of the PSOne!
Solder the Mod chip to the points shown below:
A slightly clearer shot of connection point 6:
For those who wish to perform a colour
conversion on the PSOne: (Note: this is not really needed when
using the Boot CD)
ImportPlayer instructions for
PSone
What is ImportPlayer?
ImportPlayer is a loader CD for the Playstation (you need a
modchip). Its useful for changing the region code of the CD
from PAL to NTSC or vice versa. It can help load import games for
use in the PSone (with the aid of a modchip), as the PSone, even
with a modchip installed can only load the same territory games as
the console itself. The ImportPLayer loader CD can get past
this problem, and let you boot your import CD on your PAL or NTSC
PSone with a modchip installed.
Below is the CD image files for use with CDRWIN (get CDRWIN from
http://www.goldenhawk.com/).
Unzip the two files to a temp folder on your Hard drive, and load
the CUE file in CDRWIN to burn the image file to a CD.
ImportPLayer is originally a CD for us in NTSC consoles
only. The below images have been modified for use in the
appropriate console. Please download the correct image file

How to Boot Import games on your PSone?
1) Install a modchip in the PSone 2) Insert the
ImportPLayer CD loader, and Turn on your Playstation 3)
When the ImportPlayer CD loads, and presents a Menu, you can select
any of three options. For best
results, just leave them all "OFF". 4) Follow the
screen instructions to swap the loader CD with your import game CD,
and continue. 5) Your import game should load with no
trouble.
INFOMATION ON PS1:
Since its debut in December of 1994, PlayStation has achieved
cumulative shipments of 73 million units by May 31, 2000 - making it
the most popular game console in the world. By inheriting the same
functions and continuing the success of the current console, "PS one" will lead the PlayStation format into
the new mobile network era.
A special adapter cable, available this winter, enables the
entire PlayStation platform family (PlayStation, "PS one" and the PlayStation 2 ) to be
connected to mobile phones - creating a massive new audience for
network digital services, offering new forms of entertainment beyond
traditional packaged content. This will bring about a new era of
networked entertainment. With this mobile phone network connection,
the user can download information, entertainment content and
software programs in addition to exchanging data with other users,
in a variety of ways.
The design of "PS one" is the result
of radical size-reduction of the original PlayStation to position it
for the mobile network era. While containing the same functions as
the PlayStation game console, "PS one"
has been condensed to approximately 1/3 rd its size, making it easy
to carry it anywhere. When connected to the specially designed "PS one" LCD monitor
that is planned to be available next spring, it is possible to take
the world of PlayStation entertainment with; from room to room,
house to house and out and about in a car.
