Well, i figured it would be pretty stupid or worthless to make many smaller posts, when they can be combined as well.
As title says, i'll posts about two different cable receivers. I got them from a friend, as a fee from installing couple of shelves.
They don't have remote controls, neiter i have need for those in action, so no harm in disassembling them. Other is made my aston, while other is perhaps more popular, topfield. Quitar amplifer, that too i got for free from local ''online'' flea market. Its online because buying/selling and social encounters are made there between customers as well as feedback and so on. DVD player now then, was only thing i paid for, huge sum of 4€....But, now for teardowns and other discussion.
Cable receivers:
The aston model has exterior wall-wart, which keeps annoying whining noise, as well device itself. There is also pretty much ripple when wart is idle, but i didn't bother measuring it under load. It seems second-crade, it even feels like second-crade. At least it can be opened, don't know why thought, there 'aint anything serviceable inside. At least much....
Aston model lso don't have any buttons for operation, completely RC-dependent.
Connectors are basic, SCART, RCA, and other coaxial. But there is digital coaxial for digital sound O/P. And, rs-232, service purposes maybe? If you know, feel free to share! Insides are placed in one pcb only, saves at least space.

The other cable receiver is topfield FT100C. This one even has some sort of screen on it, and buttons for operation.
Connectors are also plenty enought, even optctical audio o/p. When turned on, nothing is heard. But as seen from photos, it's alive.
I like the pcb fashion in topfield model more, PSU is smps

DVD-burner:
This is lately my only find from local flea market. Everyone knows what dvd-burner is, so i don't bore you with that. I bought this just because it's cheap, considering possible adapter for usb/ide. First problem was the polarity of the power voltage. see, it wasn't marked....So i had to open it and make quick inspection. It was luckily standard-made, center ''hot''. Plugged it in, and it even works! nice find :).

guitar amplifier:
Hehe, actually i'm not an guitar player, i just got this one free so why not :D. It seems to be basic a-class mono amplifier, 27w rating. time will show what i'll do with it, i'll test it tomorrow and decide it then.

guitar amps can be good side line for repair in u.s. as guitar players sometimes feel guilty about abusing their meal ticket. replacing tubes are easy if you can find the parts.the circuits are simple ,just plain old class A amp.

i'd like to make something with those tubes, but dunno what would be ''worthwhile''
