This is a tough one
I have in my junk box for a few years now a DDC brand, 12bit hybrid RDAC (A/D converter) branded as “8631”. I have decoded the remaining identifying number on the hybrid “5962-01-101-1033” as NSN (National Stock Number). The pin-out of the hybrid is clearly marked but I have not been able to find any datasheet or any application notes to date. I think it is around 12 years old NOS, but with 12bit accuracy and temp range of 3. Altough I feel, it exceeds the requirement of my application - I don’t really want to build one
. The pictures are attached somwhere below..
This is what I do know:
a) +5 V pin - indicates, the12 bit input data is of the TTL type
b) +/- 15V pins are the supply to analog part of circuitry
c) Vout is the Analog Output Voltage
d) Vref pin declares the max Vout=Vref x (2^12-1)/2^12
e) REF.GND is the GND for the above
f) SND is the GND
g) 1 through 13 pins (from MSB to LSB) are the 13 bits of digital input TTL data
h) It is a multiplier RDAC as Vref is provided externally
This is what I suspect:
i) It is the R-2R type of an RDAC
j) The Vref must be under the +15V (but more than 0V)
k) The Digital Ground and Analog Ground are one and the same (SND)
l) The resolution would be a simple calculation of dividing the max Vout / 2^12
This is what I don’t know:
important:
m) The role of Pins AG1 and AG2 ?
n) How the REF.GND is related to SND ? (a noise issue?)
and less important as I can figure it out once I have it going):
o) What is the conversion speed?
p) What is the settling time?
q) What is the conversion error?
I would appreciate the datasheet for this hybrid or a working example diagram of an application using this RDAC, even just a good hint about the role of pins AG1 and AG2.
Anyone please?
Thanks.
