Hi,
Would suggest that you are making things difficult for yourself.
The 16 bit Pic24 and higher chips are generally intended and widely supported to be programmed in C or similar.
While they all come with assemblers the amount of books for diyers is very sparse and similarly in forums like this very few folk go down that route, so you will find help difficult.
If you want to program in assembler the 16F and 18F chips are ideal and completely supported.
For Pic24s then C etc is the way to go.
So think you need to determine which is more important to you , the hardware or software, perhaps if you let us know what your criteria is we can help more.
