When in reference to capacitors, the value given is either 1N, 10N, 100N, what does this mean? Does it equate to a specific type of cap or value?

n is the prefix nano. for capacitors 1nf is 0.001uf. 10nf is 0.01uf, 100nf is 0.1uf.

In the circuits I design, the ceramic capacitors are labelled in pF or uF, the film capacitors are labelled in nF and the electrolytic capacitors are labelled in uF.
