what would be the best way to wind a homemade transformer for this circuit here:

https://www.maximintegrated.com/app-notes/index.mvp/id/1923

it calls for a 1.2:1 ratio with center taps on each side. i have several toroidal cores as well as ferrite rods. im a little lost because there are so many variables: wire guage, inductance, core Al,dc resistance, loading, etc. there are a lot of different ways to come up with 1.2:1. what would be the best and easiest route in your opinion? thanks in advace!

Coilcraft.com Q4470-CL will work.

Look at the data sheet for MAX253, table 2 and 3. From table 2 you can see the turns and the VT product needed.

Is it possible to manufacture transformers in home?
I do.

It is not simply getting a core at random and adding some wire. There is a lot of math.

I salvage cores from old tv's etc, you can do some basic checks to work out Al and saturation point.
You can trade some of the maths for trial and error.
Its not so difficult to design a tranny, esp if there isnt an air gap.
