What Concept is Used in Automatic Flash System?
(those which are used in Photo Studios - Photography)

The system produces an automatic flash when the camera is clicked.
No matter which camera it is, the system produces Flash.
(Though there's no connection b/w Camera and System)

Slave trigger flash?
This slave trigger simply triggers those other units. It does this by "seeing" the first flash (using a phototransistor) and triggering the other flashes

Even though this is a fairly old post I feel compelled to make a comment. Virtually no camera today tales the picture when the first f;ash is fired. The first flash is called a preflash and is used to determine exposure. And there might be several more. The picture is only taken when the last flash occurs.
There might be an exception to this and that is when the camera is set in the "Manual Mode".
