AVR programmer

I bought myself a Atmega161 to experiment a bit, so i can see for myself what these avr's can do.

Could any of you point me to a AVR programmer scematic wich will allow me to write a program to the Atmega, and some good programmer software. (free of course )

If i like these Avr's i might get some others so i would like the programmer to be able to write other types of Avr's besides the '161.

There is GCC for the AVR (just search, you'll find it). Also, I have a couple of different programmers, but usually use the SP12 programmer.
