These don't work very well as 'bump sensors' it is extremely easy for a small or oddly shaped object to not be picked up and still block motion. The object you're trying to sense needs to be relatively large and a good reflector of the frequency you're using, and even then you have to make sure you have sensor coverage of all areas you're trying to detect.
