Can PIC 16c71 replace with PIC16F72 ?

Hello to all
I tries to make PID cotroller in that a PIC 16c71 is present but i have PIC16F72 can i used it driecty in place of 71 , if i can , again there is prob. for me that i did not have programmer for that , or my pic programmer`s supported device list did not show the 71/72 , it equ to any other chip for ready replacement .
