Can someone help me by pass the power button?

I am doing this small project and I want to by pass the power button on the the device. I have it plugged into a half hot receptacle and want to turn it on with the light switch that controls the half hot receptacle. I am not familiar with circuit boards at all and not sure where to start. Any help would be very much appreciated
