Here is a wiring Diagram for a wavemaker device for aquariums. I don't know squat about electronics (I'm a programmer), but I think I can handle this. I'm assuming that once I order the parts that I can figure out how to solder everything together.
Also, anyone know a good URL where I can learn the symbology of wiring diagrams, so I know what I'm looking for in parts catalogs?
Sorry for being a NOOB. I know I can figure this stuff out, I've hacked things together before with wiring diagrams and I'm not afraid to try anything.
You can use any of the MC1455s, but you probably don't want to fool with the top one in the list, which is a surface mount part. You can actually use any 555-type timer for this application - LM555, NE555, TLC555, etc. You could even use LM556, which has two timers in one package, but that would probably confue you even more.
