it kinda looks like an audio jack or somthing :?
 
i know exactly what this is...................this is used for video and audio editing equipment used by television news guys .
 
yup, its a pro/semi-pro a/v connector. i've seen them on the back of analog betacam TV cameras, typically carrying component video and sync pulses from the camera unit to the recording kit.
i think they've been replaced with digital jacks in most pro equipment now though
 
Yep, think of this as kinda like S-video
