MJE13001 or similar equivalents are sold in many shops across many nations.sorry rsc and element 14 don't seem to have
One has try approach a component supplier. if the place can be suitable, try MJE13005 (TO220 package).People also used BD505(still bigger in
size)

as such no need for checking for replacement. but before placing them, one has to be sure that the inductor( not the toroid) in the pcb is not shorted. otherwise again the devices would go .
