converting sinusoidal wave to sqare wave

I want to design a square wave generator using diode circuits only. The
input to the circuit is an AC source (10 V sinusoidal @ 60 Hz)

hi,
As its been explained to you already , diodes will not give a true square wave.:)

Diodes are not 'active' devices, they will only clamp a sine wave.

So the resulting 'square wave' will always have slow rising and falling edges.

Again, whats the square wave going to be used for.???

I would suggest a comparator like the LM311 or even an :mu:A741 used as a comparator.
