O outstanding student New Member Nov 6, 2008 #1 how can i convert input sinusoidal wave to output square wave using diode circuit only? Thank you.
Nigel Goodwin Super Moderator Most Helpful Member Nov 6, 2008 #2 As long as the sine is large enough, you can use a pair of diodes to clip it at 0.7V p-p.
O outstanding student New Member Nov 6, 2008 #3 But this method does not give me exactly square wave. the output will has some slope.

O outstanding student New Member Nov 6, 2008 #5 I want to design a square wave generator using diode circuits only. The input to the circuit is an AC source (10 V sinusoidal @ 60 Hz)

Diodes are not 'active' devices, they will only clamp a sine wave. So the resulting 'square wave' will always have slow rising and falling edges. Again, whats the square wave going to be used for.???

Hero999 Banned Nov 6, 2008 #8 I would suggest a comparator like the LM311 or even an :mu:A741 used as a comparator.
