Looking at a simple circuit and wondering what would work best. I think I want to use a LED instead of a speaker. Which one is best or wrong??
Simply wack a resistor and led in there?

In the colored diagram, if you change the 1000pf cap to a 1uF, R3 to 1Khm: and LS to a LED then you'll have a flashing night light.

If you merely want to turn an LED on when it is dark there are *much* easier ways of doing so. What exactly is it that you want to do ?

What is the function of your "Dark Detector"? Night-light, Garden Light, will it run off of batteries(if so how many?), Transformer, AC Line power...etc when darkness is detected do you want the light to stay on steady or to flash?

These are some of the questions that most of us need to make informed and practical choices when helping you design a project.
