Hello
Not sure if you have got sorted
I have a 1" paper tape punch (not sure if it will do Mylar)
It will
punch a tape from rs232
output rs232 from a tape (about 8 configurable options)
copy a tape
I used to use it for cnc machines
It has a 4digit pin code to alter configurations but code is lost
I have also lost the instructions at the moment
I also have a reel or two of paper tape
It will be at most half the price of your example
Stored at Lincoln
I'm guessing that as it is a combined punch/reader unit it's probably not suitable for Mylar, but anything is possible? It would be good to be wrong, in this case!
(If it's a GNT 4000 series one, that's the type we already have, that cannot do Mylar).
The punch is a teleport 300 made by Telepro ltd of Dudley (weight approx 8kg)
They were the last uk company to make paper punch/read machines
I read on the internet that GNT took Telepro over so it may have been rebadged as a GNT product later on
I dont have anything that will output serial data (it will read/punch EIA and ASCII) so cant test it (it was fully functional before storage)
It is a stand alone machine that will take a full roll of 1" tape
It has two 25pin "D" connectors at the back - Line and Terminal
A good way forward would be for me to take a picture of the machine and you may be able to identify it
I am not sure how many pictures I can attach
Another way would be try and punch some mylar tape - I have some punched tape to copy
If you have some spare you could post it to me?
Testing with tape is not practical; the GNT machines we have can often punch anything from tens to hundreds of feet, or jam possibly 2 - 3 times per full roll of tape.
They punch, but the pins just occasionally snag and do not retract fast enough, causing a misfeed and character loss.
