i want to know that is there is any need of an amplifier to listen a dolby digital sound?

to ur question the ans is yes .

dolby digital sound is a sound encoding scheme and to listen it u need the decoder + the amps for the channels.

Does it mean that i have to join a amplifier to my o/p of dvd for that sound.I have another query too i.e. which amplifier i have to use is it of 25watt amp or like that of another pls supply me an adequate info. about it.

first check the manual of the dvd player to see , if it has an inbuilt amp. if yes connect it to the spkrs. if not there will the audio o/p ports , connect it to a compatable power amplifier, power amp rating is to be decided by u ,25.40,60,80,100 and so on...

There's no requirement for a manual! - just read the labels on the sockets!.

Essentially there are a number of possibilities!.

1) DVD player with inbuilt decoder and amplifiers, connect speakers to this.

2) DVD player with inbuilt decoder, but NO amplifier, connect the six phono outputs to your six channel amplifier.

3) DVD player with NO inbuilt decoder, but with optical (or coaxial) digital output - connect this to the digital input of your external Dolby 5.1 decoder and six channel amplifier.

4) DVD player with NO inbuilt decoder, and NO digital outout - you can't get Dolby 5.1 from this.

In all cases, it's obvious what you've got, the sockets are labeled on the back!.
