Hello,
I'm making an electronic drum kit for a project and I'm having some trouble.
The actual drum pads (triggers) are fine, it's after that I'm lost.
I think I'm going to connect the triggers to a PIC and then use a USB cable to connect it to a computer where I will have the samples and software but...I'm not sure

If anybody has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

USB is a bad idea, VERY difficult to write for.

Check out eDrum for a PIC based drum machine.

This connects via MIDI or serial port.

That site was helpfull, but the kit I'm making needs to be linked to a computer as part of a drum tutor program.
I'n not sure if it would be best use a PIC or not. The software will anlayse the patterns of the drum triggers to offer feedback to the player.
Maybe feeding the triggers straight to the computer via PCB would make things easier?

Any ideas anybody?

thanks

The eDrum connects to the computer, via either MIDI or serial port, what more do you want?.

My old pc's had a joystick/midi port. The latest PC I purchased only has USB ports. Then again it was a netbook, just wondering if newer PC's even have these old legacy interfaces?
