I saw a battery powered electric safe at the store the other day, and I have wondered this..

The batteries are installed and replace INSIDE the safe.. There's no combination lock, and it's exclusively a numeric pad..

So um, what do you do when the batteries die? LOL

Do you have an example?
Maybe when the batteries die, the safe opens and will not lock again until the batteries are replaced.

The safes that I've seen have a key lock for situations like that. The keyway is usually hidden behind a name plate that requires removing some screws to access. Of course that makes it a weak point , since it's easier to force a keyway than a combination lock.

the locks i have seen with the batteries on the inside have a place to touch a 9 volt battery to power it up to change the batteries
