Enhanced F16 PIC

MicroChip has announced the enhanced F16 family.

As I understand it, all new mid-range offerings will use this architecture. There will be devices from 8-64 pins.

First offerings to be available in 1st quarter 2009 with 16F193x family in 28/40 pin packages.

Nice. I'll look forward to trying them out. IMHO the 18F already do all that and more I wonder why they don't just let the old 14bit core slowly die away.

A few days ago CCS announced that they had support for the new chips.
