Flyback driver help please!

i have a small flyback i got out of a really small tv.i have tried to make the ne555 driver but it wont work i have all the parts except a 10 mf cap which i tried to replace it with something else and all i got is a little tiny spark please help

555 chips only have tiny current abilities. Flyback transformers use several watts. Maybe you need a higher current driver between the 555 and the transformer?

Please post a schematic for the circuit you made.

555 will work but you need to switch the current through a transistor. or a mosfet.

I assumed that's what he was already doing.

The slimplist flyback driver is the blocking oscillator, which can be made using a transistor and a couple of resistors.
