hi guys,am new here and really need your help.am half way through an hnd electronic engineering course in blackpool, england, and need to start my end of year project. because i play guitar a little, i thought i would try my hand at building a simple guitar tuner.theres loads of stuff on the internet but where should i start.would like to keep it simple.could anyone tell me the quickest route to go down.thanks

The simplest way is to flash an LED at the right frequency and use it as a stroboscope. When the string is tuned it appears still.

thanks mike.initially what components will i need to consider using.am i correct in assuming i need a micro controller to convert frequency to voltage?
