Hi, I have an old Soyo SY-7VCA motherboard with UDMA66 (ATA/66) support, and want to buy a Seagate 160GB ATA/100 harddisk. (ST3160023A-RK)
My question is, will the BIOS recognize it, and if yes, what amount of space will be available?
(in the motherboards manual there is no info regarding HDD support)
Thanks!
hi szabi,
Goto the seagate web site and download their disc wizard and following the instruction guides.
This should give you idea if they are compatible.
if that old it will be recognised as far as 32 GB the ata specification should not be a problem as either mobo or HDD will come down to the speed of the other, an alternative is to get a PCI/ATA card but by the time you've done all that get a new mobo
Thank you for the replys, the DiscWizard only contains a DiscClone feature, which allows me to copy the old hdd to the new one.
Here are some specifications of my mobo, if you have the time to take a look at it: **broken link removed** **broken link removed** **broken link removed**
