Hi guys,

Please does any one know how to generate call progress tones (dial tone, busy tone, e.t.c.) using a PIC microcontroller or does anyone know a link I can go to for more information? Preferably using the 16F84.

Thanks,

Nanya

Not specifically, but in general I can think of at least two ways to generate audio tones.
  1. Use a sin(x) lookup table and output the values to a DAC
  2. Use a VCO with a DAC Input to control frequency
FYI - as Nigel and others will tell you the 16F84 is quite obsolete and overpriced. The more capable 16F628A is the prefered part for that socket now.
