Hello everyone,

I was wondering..

if we have a Ring Counter its supposed to go through this sequence 1000, 0100, 0010, 0001
but how do you make it go back instead of resetting to 1000 ?

like 1000, 0100, 0010, 0001, 0010, 0100, 1000

Hi
I would use a right/left 4 bit shift register.

Google: Knight Rider light circuit

Cheers KMoffett !

I expected it to be a 4017 decade counter. I was just thinking of making my own circuit made of flip flops synchronous counter, i failed to design it because the states of the counter have to reverse direction...

For 4 or 5 outputs, how about a 4017 and diode or logic ORing the outputs?
