how PCB is translated onto a plastic board?

Hi

I was wondering that how a real PCB is manufactured. The link #1 is a circuit design and #2 is its PCB layout. Are there some special kind of printers which are used to print the PCB design on a plastic sheet.

Way back when, when there weren't PC's they layouts were TAPED at 4X using red, blue and black tape. The camera to make the mask was "walk in". Kinda cool.
