How to drive a transformer on a battery

I want to drive a 2 wire transformer off of a 5 volt supply but i have seen these kind of transistor oscillator to drive it. Is there any way of driving a two wire transformer in an oscillator like this?

No, to oscillate you need positive feedback, and in such a crude circuit as this, that's provided by the extra winding.

If you wanted to add a few more components to make a colpitts type oscillator.

How big is the transformer you are wanting to drive; what are its ratings?

If your "transformer" only has two wires, it probably isn't a transformer.

I meant it has 4 wires in total, the primary and the secondary

You need to give more details of your transformer and your application to get a proper answer.
A LMC555 (cmos 555) astable plus a power FET driver is one possible option.

Its a 120v to 5v transformer, im planning to use it on reverse

Is the secondary actually 5 Volts AC? Or is it a transformer used in a 5 Volt DC supply?
