Dont be too quick to say statisitcs is for economics because their are alot of applications that can be considered 'electronics'.
Frosty in some applications switch bouncing may not be a problem, in others it may, it's just an example didn't say it had to be practical =) Decimation and averaging oversamples of an ADC are two much more practical applications of statistics.
