Hello everybody.

I am a school student working on his major project. I need to obtain a 500uH (microhenry) coil for my wah-wah pedal project. I can either make or buy one, but i cant find anywhere where i can get a cheap coil.

Can anyone spare me some advice?

Thanks in advance.

Hi
I just Googled How to wind inductors lots of useful information.

example:

https://www.arrl.org/tis/info/pdf/9708033.pdf

How much current would the inductor handle?

Pretty well none, it's just used in an audio filter, thin wire on a pot core is what's usually used for them.

However, there are kits and bits for them all over the net, it's probably easier to just buy a coil from one of the suppliers.

I cant buy stuff online, and i live in Australia >.>

but thanks for the info so far.

hi,
It should only take a few minutes to wind a 500uH coil.
Have you looked at that DYI link, use the inductance calculation formulas.

Strip down an old mains transformer to get enamelled copper wire and use a pencil as coil former.:)

oh my god.

i actually need a 500 millihenry inductor coil. sigh. (500000 microhenry)

thanks for the help, but i might have to buy the damned thing.
