inductor coiling count

I just want to clear up on how to count the number of turns in an inductor.
Look at this badly drawn inductor.

What is the number of coils here? is it one or two?

then look at the if i put the coil above into an iron core, it will look like this:

If the count is 1, is it safe to assume the the number of lines outside the iron core is the number of turns that i made?

About 1.75. To be two turns, it would have to look like this:




To count turns wound on a toroid core, count the number of wires that penetrate the hole...
