Ineterfacing an LCD diplay?

Hi,
I am a student in electronics and I am learning Z80 microprocessor ( I'm in the beginning)
My teacher has given us a project about interfacing an LCD display.
Actually I don't have ideas how to begin it so please give me some advices on how to do it...any help is welcome
