Just look at the 471 innards on Wikipedia.

Cheers Ian
If you're going to throw out a cryptic hint, at least provide a clickable link. If you had done so, and tested the link first as you should before posting, you would have found that the Wikipedia 471 entry describes a year in the Julian calendar. Not a great deal of help for an electronics novice. Most of us assume that you meant LM741 or uA741, which, if you search in Wikipedia, comes up with the Operational Amplifier entry.
I'm sorry to hammer on you, but if you want to help someone, try not to just confuse him/her even more.

I didn't find it hard to understand. Believe it or not, though, there may be noobs out there who don't know what a 741 is, in which case, 471 is just baffling.

Lecto, could you make your question more specific? As Ian said, integrated circuits are made up of hundreds, if not thousands, of transistors, diodes, resistors, etc. The configuration of these components depend on the type of integrated circuit that contains them. For example, here is the internal schematic diagram of a 741 Op-Amp IC, not really any different from what Ian was trying to describe:

As you can see, there are many "discrete" components built into just this single chip.
