Hi,
The customer sent in a 1kW Buck PSU. They want it converted to a battery charger.
So we added the circuit ringed in the attached. The only way we have to regulate current is to pull down the TRIM pin as shown. The customer wants us to have fold-out current clamping….eg, they want the battery charge current to increase when the battery voltage is lower.
….Though please do you agree that this isn’t possible with the attached ringed circuit? (since it has a single fixed reference voltage). Also, the customer feels that the chances of instability can be reduced by adding DC feedback to the U8 based error amplifier…by way of adding R9….though please can you confirm that this is not a correct postulate?
..An error Amp with such DC feedback will always be inferior to another error amp that has no such DC feedback? (ie, an integrating type error amp).
