Jittery timing on DS1307?

Hey there,

Been constructing a mini-clock using a 16x2 HD44780 LCD, a DS1307+ and some other parts on the table.

However, I'm testing the seconds part - the display showed, but it's a bit jittery. It showed something like:

35
one second later
36
one second later
...

until to the 58th second, where it suddenly jumped to the 00 without showing 59.

On times it had this skipping of seconds randomly, like 33 to 35.

The screen refreshes every 500ms by the way.

Also, I had put pull-ups (4.7k) on these 2-wire interface lines and 0.1uF capacitors on the supply lines. Even grounded the battery line in the DS1307.
