Line detction for a security system

I am building a a security system for a final project and I am having a hard time with the Design of the phoneline detection.

To get valid answers you must expand a bit on your question. What do you mean by 'phoneline detection'?

When the guy from the telephone company was using his high-tech sensor to find my broken buried phone line, he found my cable TV cable and old car parts. Do you want phoneline detection like that?
