I want to build a circuit where when I push and hold a momentary contact switch led's light up one at time and stay lit until all 40 are lit and the button is released. I built a circuit using 4017 decade counters but, they come on one at a time and don't stay on. I was wondering if I could use shift registers? Or if it would be better to use a pic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
