MAX232 alternative

Hi every one .. I got a project PCB for an AVR .. It needs a MAX232 with the DB9 pin..but i am unable to get it in my local market ..Anyone from India can help me out.I am in orissa.

Also can we replace that chip with anyother ?

TIs ST232 is one, and cheaper too.

I looked at the link. You must already have the ICP to use the board.

the chip MAX232 should be available in Bhubaneswar local shops.

otherwise you can pay and get them from shops like Cirkit Electro- Components, PVt Ltd bomay .

The dallas DS275 is a line powered device and is easily connected as it doesn't need any other external devices, this piccy shows it with a plug type connection, but its not necessary
