millivolt meter

trying to make a permanent display off a high variable 2 wire resistor

if i connect a voltmeter from 12 volt + to resistor and resistor to ground

i get the results i am looking for but its millivolts. would like to connect to a

pic micro controller to process info and display any circuits out there
 
went to site looks great lots of info was having hard time finding the
electrical circuit diagram to do this saw the programs? did i just miss this

again great site

You way you describe your connections is a little confusing.

if i connect a voltmeter from 12 volt + to resistor and resistor to ground

Is the meter in series with resistor.?

Do you have a sketch you could post.?

I presumed he meant a potential divider?.
 
yes the voltmeter is in series with the resistor which is set for volts and gives a millivolt reading wich i want to tie into a pic
connection + volts to voltmeter gnd to one lead of resistor
other lead of resistor to com term of voltmeter

The way you have now described your circuit is in the drawing.
You will not get the meter reading you stated, measuring mVolts.

This is one way to connect +12V, using a resistor divider, into a PIC, which
only accepts a maximum of +5Volts.

It may give you an idea.

the party about the volt meter was correct don't know what i was reading but not
millivolt the comment about a voltage divider looks good just don't know where my resistor fits in the circuit you guys are sharp thats for sure

Give us some details of your 'resistor' and what you want to do.

Sure someone can advise you
 
really unsure of that one its a oxygen sensor for a car trying to set up a display not sure what type of reading it gives cant really find any info on breaking this down therefore my post has to be some sort of variable

have appreciated the inputs don't know where to seek additional help
that amplifier circuit looks good but not sure i can develop seems to be for a specific trainer.:confused: :confused:
