OK I think I understand the difference between mils and mm but I keep getting it messed up in my head when I read articles on components. For instance in a certain article the author will mention the pitch of a chip to be 25mils then later on he will say something like 10 mm for another chip. Correct me if I am wrong but mils refers to fractions of an inch and mm refers to fractions of a meter...correct?

Yes - a mil is a thousandth of an inch. This has bitten me on the ass before, I told a guy to move a display "ten mils" and he moved it a #@$%&! CENTIMETER.

Thank you for taking the time to learn the difference.
