Mouse Timer

Hey guys. I have a simple idea that I need some help with. I'd like to automate the button on a mouse to click once every n seconds. I picture somehow using a timer chip to drive a relay that replaces or bypasses the mouse button's switch, but that's as far as my limited imagination can go with it. Can anyone chime in with some design help? Thanks.

unless there is something about your project you are not telling I am wondering why you don't use something like this software?
