Mousey junkbot motor relay

The Mousey junkbot featured in Make magazine (link below) shows a relay used for switching both motors on when the bot hits a wall. Is the current draw that high that a relay is needed or can something like an IRL520N MOSFET be used instead?

I've used this MOSFET to switch 1.5A and it didn't even get warm.

A Mosfet makes a good switch, but conducts current in only one direction. Since you need to reverse 2 motors, 8 Mosfets are needed and a circuit to control them. Use the simple relay.
