Need help in ic programmable timmer

hi to all of this forum.
firstly saying that i am new to this forum and ineed some help in IC Programmable Timmer/Counters.can any body help me in this matter .
i mean to say that please inform me about the books where i will get help to my problems..

I think OP was just emphasising his/her point.

What do you mean by Timer/Counter...
The 555 is a timer, the 4017 is a decade counter, the 74LS93 is a binary counter... you need to be more specific... if you want to do custom timings and countings, look into microcontrollers.

Perhaps he means an antique chip like the 82C54. Is that what you mean?
