Hi,

I am working on a project that needs to transmit 24-bits of RGB video data from one board to another. I need an optical connection since the receiver is going to be rotating. I plan to put the transmitter and receiver lined up to the axis of rotation.

What ICs do you recommend to use? It needs to be capable of at least 15-20Mbps. I have seen some ICs called SerDes that transmit with an LVDS connection, but I would need to convert this LVDS connection to an optical connection. Is it possible to avoid using a SerDes IC and maybe use some other simple IC with an LED as a transmitter?

Thank you.

There are IC's that transmits data through optical connection. I forgot the part numbers. But, LVDS I think is much cheaper but optical is much faster.
