Newer radio, but no FM signal, just static - any ideas why or how to fix?

I am repairing a radio for a friend. It is a digital radio (selecting RADIO is a digital tuner) and she told me "used" to work.
As I scan through even strong radio stations, there is nothing but static - the antenna is a basic wire . Moving around the antennae does not change the frequency or the pitch of the static at all. Any ideas or suggestions before I open it up?

Post a picture of it. Is it a purely digital (SDR type) radio, or is just an analog radio with "digital" (synthesizer) tuning?

Sadly, not all that enlightening, netrate. There appear to be more pieces parts to be seen. Also, one of the front?

The mothers that lost weight, associated to each picture, are a joke or spam?

sorry I didn't know how to post pictures otherwise. I will use Tinypic next?
What else should I post to give you an idea of what is going on?

Do not post your pictures somewhere else. Simply attach them here (upload a file, beside the post reply button).

You can Copy and Paste photos (or "Snips") into your reply as well.
