Hi Guys,

In the image the insulating object A moves only left and right. When it is at the leftmost travel position four electrodes(or probes) will be in contact with a metal strip mounted on the object and send a logic signal to a single 5V logic input circuit.

At present the electrodes are wired in the (1+3) and (2+4) fashion, used as input and ground to the logic circuit. It has been changed from previous (1+2+3) and 4 configuration but the problem still pops up once in a while.

Out of about one in a thousand times, the circuit failed to detect the object because only two electrodes made contact to the metal strip.

Is there a better way the object can be detected using these existing electrodes?

Edited: Never mind, I just realise I can nail the problem using voltage comparator.
